The Seven Bridges Knowledge Center

The Seven Bridges Platform is a simple solution for doing bioinformatics at industrial scale. But sometimes, everyone needs a little help.

Get Started

Set metadata using the visual interface

You can set or change metadata associated with a file or multiple files at once using the visual interface.

📘

As well as setting metadata on the Platform's visual interface, you can set file metadata via the Seven Bridges API or with the Seven Bridges Command Line Uploader while uploading files to the Platform.

To change metadata associated with a file:

  1. Navigate to the repository containing the file you want to edit.
  2. Click the Files tab.
  3. Select the checkbox next to the file whose metadata you want to edit.
  4. Click Edit Metadata above the file list.

Alternatively, you can:

  1. Click the file name to open the file page. Note that file preview is shown by default instead of metadata for the following file extensions: html, b64html, RNA vis index, ingenuity report, bench SQLite, PDF, GIF, JPEG, SVG, PNG and ipynb. To display metadata, switch to the Metadata tab above file preview.
  2. Click Edit Metadata on the right.

Set metadata for multiple files

  1. Navigate to the project containing the file you want to edit.
  2. Click the Files tab.
  3. Select multiple files and click Edit Metadata above the file list.
  4. In the pop-up window on the right, enter the metadata for your files. Note that you can also set metadata for custom metadata fields listed in the Additional section.

📘

Hover over the info icon for a description of the metadata fields. Click Revert all to undo the changes.

For more information on searching and filtering files by metadata information, see our documentation on searching files on the Platform.
